Double Cask 30 Year Old is a charming combination of butterscotch, honeycomb, vanilla and red apples. I wanted to illustrate the bright colors and varied textures of these succulent flavors in the image, reminiscent of the great Flemish still lifes of the 17th century.
INSPIRED BY FLAVOR
Renowned photographer and artist Erik Madigan Heck was inspired by the nature and landscape of the Macallan Estate to capture the complex flavor of The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old
The whiskey itself is a rich and luxurious blend of flavors, and Erik Madigan Heck used natural light to capture this depth of character in his still life. The reflective surface reinforces the idea that the flavors blend together – almost as if they merge into one and the same – and the soft focus echoes the long-lasting taste experience.
The natural whiskey color, the golden tassel, is the focal point of the photo. Its rich tone and translucent sheen influenced the color palette of the entire piece, with soft caramels and browns and hints of red and green once again highlighting the depth of its flavor profile.
